HAPPY SPRING!

I'm always happy when spring come to northwestern Pennsylvania! We wait so long!
I found a few nice little surprises while tidying up the lawn.
These crocus are sweetly nestled at the base of my favorite tree. Unfortunately facing away from the house, so I didn't know they were there!

With all the pretties popping up outside I had to pretty up my kitchen! I changed out my fall and winter vintage tablecloths in my cabinet to my spring linens. What fun!

I also changed out my tea towel frame. I know I always say each Wilendur is my favorite, but I think this one really is!  But then again, spring is my favorite season!

I put out the tablecloth that matches my towel. It comes in a few colorways. But the blue hyacinths are so pretty! The colors really show off the "new" vaseline glass candle holders my husband found at an estate sale last weekend.

Hope everyone enjoys a beautiful spring!

Not only do I collect vintage tablecloths, I sell them on my online shop, The Pink Rose Cottage. Looking to start a collection or to add to one? I invite you to take a peek!
Please feel free to leave a comment! I love talking tablecloths!

A surprise Wilendur find

Those of you who follow me on my blog or on Facebook know I'm a Wilendur fanatic! I've been collecting vintage tablecloths for years and never really expect to find one I haven't seen before.

I picked up this pretty and just LOVED it. Held it up to check for damage and when I didn't see any, I quickly folded it and continued shopping.

Got it home and ask my husband to hold it open so I could admire it fully. He is the one that found the "Wilendure" tag.  What a bonus to a tablecloth I already loved!

This one will be staying in my personal collection, but if you're looking for some terrific vintage tablecloths, be sure to visit The Pink Rose Cottage!

Vintage milk bottles make the best vases! They are simple and capture the charm of yesteryear.

Recently added to The Pink Rose Cottage are six pint size bottles. Perfect for sweet little bouquets.

And the fit perfectly in this wonderful primitive divided box! What a sweet display!

Fresh from the farm....

Visit The Pink Rose Cottage for delightful items from a country estate!
Everyday objects from the past that enhance the cozy cottage décor of today!
You can find the newly listed items here!
There are lots of great items including old milk bottles that make terrific vases.

Tons of old canning jars. There are so many uses for these now! Love the old zinc lids. And the glass lids are so charming. I have one of these on our vanity fill with seashells. Love the charm!

Who can resist an old McCoy flower pot? This shade of green is so wonderful and this looks unused.

When we found this great old divided wooden box, it was filled with neatly organized nails. My husband was so happy with the nails. But I was thrilled with the box. A great organizer for many things. What would you use it for?

This old egg basket is so cheery in this buttery yellow. It's great for stacking vintage tablecloths!

See these and more items fresh from a country estate. All are now available at The Pink Rose Cottage!

Lily of the Valley

I love lily of the valley! It’s so very pretty and smells so amazing! This little flower offers so much. Truly one of God’s spring gifts.

I was so lucky to find this antique cobalt vanity jar recently at a thrift store. The raised, hand painted lily of the valleys against the blue is so striking! Since it was missing its stopper, it’s become a vase!

So with today's picking from my cottage garden and my new little vase along with a crystal pitcher that was my husband’s grandmothers, I have this sweet vignette. It's sitting atop an antique pull work centerpiece on my tea table. Sweet and simple. I don’t think it needs anything else. I’m just sitting back and enjoying the sight and scent!

I added just few sprigs of forget-me-nots for a touch of more blue.

Vintage Bridal Wedding Handkerchiefs

Exquisite handwork on vintage wedding handkerchief

Carrying a beautiful handkerchief has been a century’s long tradition among brides. That tradition is still strong today. Whether the modern bride chooses her hanky as a symbol of good luck or to dab her tears, the choice is as very important part of planning the wedding.

Monogrammed handkerchiefs are always in vogue. But brides don't have to carry their own monogrammed initial. How about carrying the first initial of the groom or the initial of the bride's new last name?

Fine Linen with Monogram "S"

Whitework Monogram "C"
Whitework & Darnwork Monogram "D"

Simple yet elegant linen and lace designs are sure to please almost any bride.
Darnwork and pull work give this hanky a lacy edge
Choose an embroidered design to match the bridal bouquet.
Embroidered Calla Lilies Hankie
Or a fun twist on the all white tradition...a handkerchief elaborately embroidered to match the bridesmaids dresses or in the brides favorite color.
Pink Embroidered and Appliqued Monogram Hanky

You can find this as a subcategory of our Vintage and Antique Linens category.

There are a lot of vintage handkerchiefs, in a lot of different styles for brides and fine linen lovers alike!

Spring!

I don't know about you, but I'm loving this early spring! I visited the garden center today and got some early blooming beauties!

Origami Red & White Columbine. More deep maroon then red, so it's very striking.

Winky Columbine. Gorgeous double blooms.

It's too soon to plant the columbine so I'll have to baby them and protect them from frost. I don't want to lose these unusual beauties.

And of course, I had to pick up a few baskets of the hardy and sweet pink pansies. Love the different shades...

I'm anxious to get my hands in the soil! Won't be long now.!

In addition to sharing my floral finds, I wanted to say "thank you" for all the prayers and kind notes upon the loss of my mother-in-law.  I appreciate everyone's understanding about postponing Teacup Tuesdays. I'll do two drawings on Tuesday the 27th of March. Both the vintage teaspoons and Royal Albert Old Country Rose teacup will be given away. There is still time to enter! Monday Markdowns will resume shortly. Please watch your email for the notification. And of course, I have a lot of new vintage treasures coming to The Pink Rose Cottage that you won't want to miss. Check often. I don't know what my schedule will be but I'll be adding them as fast as I can.

Happy weekend my friends. Hope it's a wonderful one for all!
